Our board and staff

Rob Robinson (Board Chairman) was born in Richmond, Virginia to missionaries to South Korea. Rob was raised in South Korea until his graduation from Korea Christian Academy in 1969 where he then moved back to the U.S. to attend Berea College in Kentucky. In 1976, he started Rob Robinson Builder Inc. Rob joined the board of Christian Friends of Korea in 2004 and not only serves as Board Chairman but as the technical team leader for hospital renovations and water projects.

Heidi Linton (CFK Executive Director) has worked with CFK since its founding in 1995 and has served as Executive Director since 2002. She holds a Master’s Degree from New York University and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Washington. Heidi and her husband, Andrew Linton (a co-founder of CFK), have three children and live in North Carolina. Heidi regularly leads CFK visits to the DPRK to confirm delivery of all shipments and to engage in technical projects.

Dr. John Akers (CFK board member) made several visits to North Korea in the early 1990’s in preparation for the visits there by Dr. Billy Graham in 1992 and 1994. Dr. Akers serves as a special assistant to Dr. Graham and also serves on a variety of other boards and committees.

 Kay Rader (CFK board member) is the former World President of Women’s Organizations for the Salvation Army. She and her husband, General (Dr.) Paul Rader, served as missionaries in South Korea for 22 years and as international leaders of the Salvation Army from 1994 to 1999. She holds three honorary doctorates from Greenville College, Roberts Wesleyan College, and Asbury Theological Seminary and has served on CFK’s board since 2002.

Steve Aceto (CFK board member) is a lawyer practicing in Asheville, North Carolina. He is a founding board member of CFK. and continues to make visits to the DPRK with CFK confirming teams. Steve and his wife, Fran – who has also visited the DPRK – have two sons, Ben and Bill. Ben is a horticultural expert who has made several visits to the DPRK as part of the CFK greenhouse technical team.

Sissel Topple, MD, (CFK Board Member) has served on the CFK’s board since 2000. Born and raised as a daughter of missionary physicians to South Korea, Sissel feels very close to the Korean people, whether they are in the North or South, and longs for them to know Jesus Christ. She attended UNC Chapel Hill Medical School completing her degree in 1990 and has practiced in Asheville since 1997. Sissel has been to the DPRK with various CFK teams multiple times.

Fred Moore, MD, (CFK Board Member) is a child and grandchild of Presbyterian missionaries to China and South Korea. Fred was born and raised in South Korea and has a strong desire to share God’s love to those in need on the Korean peninsula. He currently works as a public health physician and administrator in rural North Carolina.

Liana Wolfe, DDS, (CFK Board Member) graduated from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. She worked as a missionary dentist in Trinidad, Tobago, and Guam for 6 years before moving to Asheville. Liana is a dentist at the VA Hospital in Asheville and has visited North Korea several times with CFK.

Bill Moore, DMin, (CFK Board Member) is the son of United Methodist missionaries and spent his early life in Korea and the Philippines. Bill received a doctorate in ministry from Lexington Theological Seminary and currently serves as Pastor of Southern Hills UMC in Lexington. Bill has been married to his wife, Sharon, for 42 years, and they have two children and four grandchildren.

Rick Armstrong (CFK Board Member) is a semi-retired electrical engineer residing in Blacksburg, VA with his wife, Andie. They and their two children have been involved in short term missions for many years. Rick began traveling to the DPRK in 2007 with World Vision to assist in developing water systems using solar powered pumps. Rick has served in water design projects and participated on technical team visits with CFK since 2008.

Yeri Im (CFK Board Member) previously worked as a Program Coordinator for World Vision’s DPRK office and was posted in Pyongyang for 9 months on a large scale emergency food assistance program. Her experience with the DPRK also includes conducting academic research, coordinating a Track-II conference, and participating in the New York Philharmonic’s 2007 performance in Pyongyang as a tour manager. Yeri graduated Cum Laude from Yale University and received her Master of Pacific and International Affairs from UC San Diego.

Terry Smith (Program Coordinator) began working for CFK in 2004 as office assistant and later became CFK’s Program Coordinator. Terry manages CFK’s finances, coordinates shipments, and attains many other responsibilities. Her and her husband, Jim, help with landscaping around the office and loading containers sent from our warehouse. Terry has participated on several CFK delegations to the DPRK.

sarah yontz

Sarah Yontz, Programs Assistant. Sarah is originally from Greensboro, North Carolina. She attended Appalachian State University to obtain her Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design. She began working with CFK in March of 2013. Her knowledge of media/design combined with her past experience working in a non-profit environment make her a good fit for our team.

mary nan ollis

Mary Nan Ollis (Grant Writing/Research) lived in Asia for most of her childhood, as her parents were missionaries. After returning to the United States, she attended the UNC Asheville and Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. She began working with CFK in March of 2013 and helps with grant research and writing.
